UI Designer resume: keywords and templates

Applying as a ui designer? Your resume is parsed by an ATS before a person reads it. These are the terms those filters screen for, and the templates that survive the parsing.

Keywords ATS filters look for

From real ui designer postings — include the ones you genuinely have, worded as the posting words them:

  • Figma
  • Design systems
  • Prototyping
  • Visual design
  • Responsive design

Don't keyword-stuff: put each term in your skills section once and prove it inside an experience bullet. The free ATS checker shows the literal text a parser extracts from your file.

Recommended templates

  • Creative PortfolioPortfolio-friendly layout with highlighted links and visual rhythm. Recruiters love it for design-heavy roles; ATS systems sometimes mis-parse the styled link blocks. Use a Classic / Minimal variant for the actual application upload.
  • Modern ProfessionalSingle-column with subtle divider lines. Content parses cleanly; some ATS may drop the divider styling but never the text.
  • Minimal CleanUltra-minimal single-column format. The safest visual choice for ATS — almost nothing for a parser to trip on.

Three rules for a ui designer resume

  • Lead with outcomes, not duties. Every experience bullet should carry a number: scale, speed, money or people.
  • Mirror the posting's wording. If the JD says “Figma”, your resume should say it the same way — ATS matching is literal.
  • Stay single-column for portals. Save the designer layouts for humans; upload the ATS-safe version to job sites.
